Company Profile

The Mold Services Group (MSG) is a division of GHH Engineering, Inc. (GHH). GHH is an environmental civil engineering company that specializes in hazardous materials management; water and wastewater issues; environmental compliance; design; construction; construction management; and regulatory compliance issues.

The Mold Services Group specializes in mold investigation, testing, abatement, and management services, and provides mold inspection and testing services for a variety of clients including homeowners, home builders, property managers, attorneys, insurance companies, and schools. Our team includes professional engineers, biologists, and environmental technicians with hazardous materials training.

MSG has provided investigation and abatement services for hundreds of properties in the Northern and Central California area including homes, schools, office buildings and apartment complexes. We have provided complete mold related services on many projects including investigation and testing; complete abatement services; confirmation sampling and report preparation after the abatement; litigation support; and expert witness testimony.

MSG is very active in research on emerging information on molds and indoor air quality issues and we have compiled an extensive library of resources on all aspects of mold growth including: mold biology and the growth characteristics of different mold genera, health effects from mold exposure, remediation and testing technologies, prevention and management. Our research combined with our field experience have provided us with a unique understanding of the growth characteristics of molds for proficient evaluation of mold sampling data and preparation of mold abatement plans.

We maintain an A Haz contractors license, and members of our staff have backgrounds in building construction and knowledge of building codes and construction defects, which gives us the ability to evaluate mold problems on a structural level and determine the appropriate steps to resolve the moisture problems that lead to mold growth.

We have provided complete abatement services to schools, apartment complexes, condominiums, and residential properties. We have successfully remediated buildings with long term accumulated mold growth and initial airborne mold concentrations at 10,000 times background levels. Our abatement projects involve the use of procedures and protocols established by the New York City Department of Health Services, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) as well as a variety of proprietary technologies and protocols demonstrated to be effective at abating mold growth and reducing airborne levels of mold spores. Our procedures have been shown to be especially effective at remediating Stachybotrys mold growth in buildings and the success of our abatement work has been verified through confirmation sampling.

The MSG also provides training and certification for all levels of mold awareness, testing, abatement, maintenance and prevention. We have worked actively over the past year to help develop public awareness of mold problems and has provided mold awareness training to both public agencies and industry groups that may potentially encounter mold problems in the course of business including home inspectors, real estate professionals, environmental professionals, and home builders. The Mold Services Group has given several presentations on mold related issues at national and local conferences and industry group meeting.

The MSG developed Mold Awareness and Inspection Training Seminars to provide an awareness of the conditions that promote mold growth and introduce home inspectors to the fundamentals of mold testing and management. These training courses are also available on-line at the Environmental Assessment Association's (EAA) website. In conjunction with the EAA, the Mold Services Group is also teaching training and certification classes on Mold Inspection and Testing and Mold Abatement in various cities nationwide. Students who successfully complete the courses are eligible for a Certified Mold Inspector (CMI) or Registered Mold Remediator (RMR) designation through the EAA

At the Mold Services Group, our goal is to provide sensible solutions using short term engineered controls to control airborne mold levels and allow continued occupancy while a long term plan can be developed to solve the problem and avoid expensive, drawn out litigation with no solution.
